Thank you to all those who came out to the town board meeting on June 12th. Your support made a difference. By showing up, you helped convince the town board that a theater is what the community wants.
However, our work is not done. The building owner is finally willing to begin negotiations. Please keep checking this site for updates, and how to get involved.
Learn more about how you can contribute or volunteer to save the theater. Email us at
savethetheater@PRTDC.org or call us at 800-217-0091. This past February the Pearl River Theater Development Corporation was able to convince the Orangetown Town Board to postpone a zone change application by the current owner. We were assigned the task of securing a viable plan to save the Theater. Well, WE HAVE DONE IT!
Two separate, local businessmen have come forward with plans for the revitalization of the Theater. Their plans require absolutely no public funding. They have offered exciting plans that will make the Theater better than you remember.
Each is willing to make a commitment to Pearl River and put this safe family gathering place back where it belongs.
BUT YOUR SUPPORT IS NEEDED!
The Orangetown Town Board needs to see an overwhelming turnout by all Orangetown residents interested in saving the Pearl River Theater. A Zone Change affecting the future of the building could be made that night and the Theater will be gone forever!
This decision is in the hands of the Town Board.
They need to hear directly from residents of Orangetown and neighboring communities that this Theatre is wanted and needed!
If you cannot attend the meeting please leave a message for members of the Town Board by calling Orangetown Town Hall at 359-5100. Let your voice be heard!
Please attend the June 12th Town Board meeting - show your support for the theater! Thank you!
